Netflix still has a regular lineup of original movies in June, but the quality of some of the latest flicks is questionable. Take for example, Atlas, the new sci-fi film starring Jennifer Lopez. It’s a real chore to watch, even if it did briefly rank among the most popular movies on Netflix. But we can’t call Atlas one of the best original movies on Netflix. It just isn’t true.
Trigger Warning, another prominent Netflix original in June, isn’t a masterpiece either. But Netflix subscribers tend to be more forgiving of flawed action flicks, and it is fun to see Jessica Alba kicking butt in a movie again after her extended hiatus from Hollywood. But the real treat this month is the lavishly animated Ultraman: Rising. Don’t be too shocked if it winds up with an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature at next year’s Academy Awards.
