Learn more Table of Contents Table of Contents Intel PresentMon version 2.2 massively reduces event latency with metrics now being reported in real-time instead of being delayed by one second. For those unaware, PresentMon is a free GPU monitoring tool from Intel that allows users to collect data and monitor performance in real-time through an integrated overlay. The tool is widely used by third-party software like CapFrameX, Frameview, or OCAT and works with third-party vendor GPUs as well. The GPU enthusiast tool was last updated over a year ago, where we saw new metrics like GPU Busy added. Version 2.2 is the biggest update we’ve seen since then, introducing features such as; improved input latency, Click-to-photon metric, and reduced latency. New Features Overhauled the ETW backend to reduce event latency from 1000ms => ~30ms; overlay now displays data instantly without 1 second lag Added a new click-to-photon metric that only tracks mouse button events; renamed previous click-to-photon metric to “all-input-to-photon” Improved input latency reporting so that input falling on dropped frames is attributed to the next displayed frame rather than being ignored Enabled the client to gather log data from the service and increased log coverage, particularly at the “debug” severity level Bug Fixes Fixed column labels for summary stats file Fixed rare crash due to a race condition Fixed bug occurring when selecting a non-default adapter Intel PresentMon: GitHub PresentMon 2.2 ensures data shown is no longer delayed by one second Developers behind PresentMon have said that this update has massively reduced event latency reporting for ETW (Event Tracking for Windows). The update has brought down event latency from 1000ms to almost 30ms. Additionally, it also metrics are reported in real-time and the data is displayed instantly without 1-second lag. You can download the Present Mon version 2.2 from GitHub and test it out yourself. Since the tool is open-source, you can even download the source code to get more into the technical details.
