Prebuilt PCs typically cost more than self-builds, but this RTX 4060 machine from Overclockers UK is an exception Updated: Oct 5, 2024 8:36 pm WePC is reader-supported. Learn more Table of Contents Table of Contents SPONSORED PIECE PC gaming is never ‘cheap’ but it can be relatively affordable through making wise decisions in what components you use. This is why building your own PC is generally considered to be the more cost-effective option, with most prebuilt PCs having a sizable markup added on top. Prebuilts do however have the considerable advantage of being almost plug-and-play devices (once you’ve got Windows setup and your drivers downloaded etc.), removing the stress of building the thing yourself, which for those who aren’t experienced in such matters (i.e. the majority of people) can be a time-consuming headache. But what if there was a way to get the best of both worlds?! The OcUK Gaming Mach 1 is a budget-friendly prebuilt PC that doesn’t make you pay through the nose for the privilege of convenience, and yet is still capable of playing the latest AAA titles to a good standard. It’s a great option for those looking for something more versatile than a gaming console but who aren’t looking to break the bank on a premium PC. Read below for all the details! Previous Next Performance This prebuilt proves you don’t need to spend silly money to enjoy great FPS performance across many of the latest games. The OcUK website helpfully lists the kind of FPS you can expect to get with all its prebuilt PCs, all you have to do is scroll down the product page and you will see a table with the average Frames Per Second for a variety of games at different graphical settings. For the Mach 1, the company lists 12 different titles, from Counter-Strike 2 to Red Dead Redemption 2, and displays the average FPS on the max settings for each when tested at 1920 x 1080 resolution. We’ve listed these below for your convenience. We ourselves gave the PC a spin, and on Horizon Forbidden West saw over 110 FPS on average on the highest settings at 1080p, as you can see in the video further down this page. Previous Next The GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 is a great graphics card if you’re looking to game at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Offering significantly higher performance than the RTX 3060 of the previous generation, but with greater power efficiency, you will be able to play a whole host of AAA titles with this graphics card at the higher settings. The CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600 is an older generation processor but it still packs a punch for the money. This 6 core, 12 thread CPU is well above the minimum system requirements for any game out there, and is a solid performer in productivity tasks as well. Memory The onboard memory is two 8GB sticks of T-Force DDR4 RAM with a 3200MT/s max speed, totalling at 16GB overall. 16GB will cover you for the minimum requirements of any game out there, though if you’re the kind of person that likes to open a lot of tabs in your web browser then you can always upgrade the memory at a later date for relatively little money, taking advantage of the four DIMM slots in the motherboard. Although DDR5 is the latest memory standard, the performance uplift over DDR4 is fairly negligible at the moment, particularly in gaming, so there’s no issue in still using the latter RAM type. Storage Onboard storage comes by way of a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, specifically the Teamgroup MP33 PRO. Although the latest AAA games have increasingly large storage requirements, 1TB should allow you plenty of room to install a great many of them alongside Windows and any other big files, and you can always upgrade this further should you need to, either with a new M.2 drive or an external SSD. Case & Cooling The case is one of OcUK’s own, which comes with six RGB-capable 120mm fans in total (three on the front, two on the top, and one on the rear of the case). The case is a mid-size tower case with ample room within for airflow. The Power supply The 600W AeroCool Integrator has all the power necessary to run each of the components of the build and comes with an 80 Plus Bronze efficiency rating. Price The OcUK Gaming Mach 1 is available for £749.99 (incl.VAT) on the Overclockers UK website, which is a pretty reasonable price, considering you get an Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card and AMD Ryzen 5 5600 processor. As we’ll see below, this combination can crank out very respectable FPS even on the latest demanding titles. Once you also bundle in the motherboard, case, RAM, storage, PSU, and cooling, the price of this build is pretty close to what you’d expect to pay if you built it yourself. This being the case, why not remove the hassle of having to build your own from scratch and let the professionals handle it? As we’ll also discuss below, you’ll also get the benefit of a nice warranty included in the price, further removing the stress of having to deal with any technical issues. If you don’t have the full amount of cash available up front, finance payment options are also available from OcUK either via Overclockers UK Online Finance or Klarna. Warranty OcUK make solid, reliable builds, though to offer you peace of mind you get a three year warranty covering parts and labour, meaning if there is a problem, you won’t have to pay to resolve it. You can read more about the terms and conditions here.
