SmallRig has introduced the S 60, a wireless microphone aimed at creators for those moments when staying discreet is key. It’s compact, about the size of a button at 2.6 cm (1 inch), and weighs just 7.9g (0.28 oz). Featuring an LDS antenna, extended battery life, and more – pin it to your shirt or collar, and you’re ready to start recording. Let’s have a look!SmallRig has made a name for themselves with their tools for filmmakers and content creators – everything from their 5W RGB LED lights to camera cages for the Nikon Z6III to an accessory ecosystem for the Sony BURANO. The S 60 wireless microphone (USB-C version) is the newest addition to their lineup. According to the company, it’s made for creators who need to preserve sound quality but where visible audio equipment might be distracting. You can have a look at how it works here:FeaturesThe little S 60 uses a 1000 mAh battery cell for 11 hours of battery life (44 with the charging case). It features a DSP chip that supports 48 kHz/24-bit recording, and it includes a 3-level gain adjustment for better control over input levels. A button on the transmitter lets you mute with a double tap and enable noise reduction with one tap. The LDS antenna allows for a transmission range of up to 300m/984.2 ft, and the microphone operates with a latency of less than 20 ms for real-time audio capture without noticeable delay, according to SmallRig. The SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) is 74 dB, and the SPL (sound pressure level) is 120 dB. Finally, the S 60 has a USB-C interface that can simultaneously charge when attached to a mobile phone.Windscreen for the S 60. Set-up is Plug and Play, with no need for any additional software.Key / System SpecsWireless Technology: DigitalIncluded Transmitters: 2x Clip-On with MicrophoneReceiver type: Plug-InMicrophone type: Built-inDiversity: Non-diversityMax Operating Range: 300m/984.3 ftMax Transmitters per Band: 2Built-in Recorder: NoTimecode Support: NoMobile App Compatible: Yes: Android and iOSSample Rate/Resolution: 48 kHz / 24-bitSource: SmallRigReceiver SpecsReceiver Type: Plug-In (USB-C)Mounting Options: Plug-In (with included hardware)Antenna: InternalNumber of Audio Channels: 2Audio I/O: NoNetwork I/O: NoUSB/Lightning Connectivity: USB-C MaleUSB Class-Compliant: YesPower Requirements: Bus Power (USB)Housing: ABSDimensions: 38x15x8mm/1.5×0.6×0.3 inSource: SmallRigTransmitter SpecsTransmitter Type: Clip-On with MicrophoneBuilt-In Microphone: YesAudio I/O: 1x Proprietary 3-Pin Female InputAuto-Level Control: YesRecorder Sample Rates: 48 kHzSync Method: 2.4 GHz QPSKAntenna: InternalPower Requirements: BatteryBattery Type: 1x Built-In RechargeableInternal Battery Capacity: 97 mAhApprox.
