Why Jennifer Lopez Is ‘Grateful’ For Ben Affleck Amid Their Divorce

It seems Jennifer Lopez is taking the high road when it comes to her recent split from Ben Affleck. Despite filing for divorce just months ago, the This Is Me Now star is reportedly focusing on the positives from their two-year marriage.

A source close to Lopez recently opened up to People magazine, revealing that the singer isn’t letting the divorce get her down. Instead, she’s cherishing the “beautiful memories” she shared with Affleck during their time together.

“This has been one of the hardest years for Jennifer,” the insider confided. They went on to explain that Lopez didn’t exactly jump at the chance to end her marriage. “She didn’t want to file for divorce. She just felt like she had no choice. Nothing was gonna change with Ben.”

But in true J-Lo fashion, she’s not letting this setback dim her spotlight. The source added, “She was very upset about it. But true to her positive outlook on life, she’s moving forward with optimism.” It seems Lopez is taking this opportunity to focus on herself, viewing this chapter as a necessary part of her journey rather than a failure. “Instead of feeling like she’s fallen flat on her face, she sees it was meant to be,” the insider shared. “She’s taking time for herself right now.”

At the end of the day, Lopez isn’t blind to how lucky she is, either. The source noted, “She knows she lives a privileged life in so many ways. She’s very grateful for all the beautiful memories with Ben, but she’s now focused on creating the best future for herself and her kids.”

In a recent chat with Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, Lopez herself echoed these sentiments. When asked if she had any regrets about her relationship with Affleck, the 55-year-old star didn’t mince words: “Not for one second.”

She then dove into a candid reflection on the experience, saying, “That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F—k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a f—ing sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again.’”
