In a subsequent post, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be his successor:“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year,” he said. Adding “Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

The decision to make the announcement on social media in general and X specifically is a unique one. X, in particular, hasn’t been an overwhelmingly friendly place for Biden since Elon Musk purchased it.Musk even endorsed Biden’s opponent, Trump, on the platform last week shortly after his attempted assassination.

At the time, he tweeted “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery” and has subsequently made a number of posts supporting the former President in the 2024 election.
