Canon’s EOS R5 8K camera isn’t quite the brand’s flagship shooter anymore, but it remains one of the brand’s best new cameras.
Now it’s also available at a $500 discount thanks to a unique price drop that lasts only until September 22.
When the EOS R5 was first released, it was the first camera of its type on the market to offer 8K recording, along with a powerful 45MP full-frame sensor for still photography and powerfully agile high-speed continuous shooting at up to 20fps.
The compact but powerful device also offered 120fps video in 4K resolution and one extremely effective in-body image stabilization package that nearly guaranteed sharp, crisp photos even in challenging situations.
These are just some of the many features found in Canon’s R5 and they contributed to it being extremely popular among photographers and widely considered as one of Canon’s best all-around mirrorless cameras.
Since then, its successor, the EOS R5 Mark II superseded many of the specs in the original R5. Its improvements include 8K video at higher frame rates, a new Stacked BSI CMOS sensor and DIGIC Accelerator Processing as opposed to the DIGIC X Image Processor of the original R5.
However, in exchange for these higher-performance specs, the R5 Mark II also costs a full third more than the R5.
Despite being older, the R5 is still a superb piece of photography equipment and a fine device for any photographer wanting strong performance at a more reasonable price
Right now, and only until September 22, the EOS R5 is also on sale with a very nice $500 discount from its regular price, making it even more affordable.
Instead of retailing for its regular price of $3,399, the EOS R5 is selling for $2,899 and this is a genuinely good deal for one of the best-selling and most popular full-frame mirrorless cameras of the last few years.
This deal is for the camera body only, but when it comes to Canon cameras, there are hundreds of native and compatible third-party lenses available all over the place at impressively low prices.
If you’d like to take advantage of this offer, head to B&H Photo where it still applies until Sunday, September 22.
After that, the R5 will again cost well over $3,300, much closer to the R5 Mark II at $4,299.
