DJI has surprised the action camera community by releasing the new Osmo Action 5 Pro.
This camera boasts over 13.5 stops of dynamic range and up to four hours of battery life.
It also features subject tracking and an impressive color gamut for capturing exciting moments.

The Osmo Action 5 Pro comes equipped with a 1/1.3” CMOS 4 nm sensor with a 2.4 μm pixel size, promising a cinematic dynamic range.
The camera can capture images in 10-bit D-Log M and has support for Hybrid Log Gamma HLG.

In terms of video capabilities, the Action 5 Pro can capture 4K video at 60 frames per second, compensating for extreme high and low lights and enhancing overall image quality.
Additionally, it offers a Super Night mode for night shooting, utilizing AI to reduce noise and capture important details in low light for clearer, sharper footage.
The camera also features automatic subject centering and tracking, along with Rock Steady 3.0 image stabilization and 360° Horizon Steady, eliminating any need for a gimbal.
The AI algorithms can analyze the subject position and adjust image composition to ensure the subject is in the center of every shot and frame.

The Action 5 Pro comes with larger, dual OLED touch screens that provide up to 1000 nits of peak brightness, up to 16% brighter than the previous model.
The touchscreens are also made from tempered glass for increased sharpness and durability.

Other features include 47 GB of onboard storage, high-speed data transfer of up to 80 MB/s via WiFi 6.0 and USB 3.0, live streaming via WiFi, timecode for cinematic sync, prerecording, and highlighting key moments for faster editing.
A live photo setting captures up to 3 seconds of video to grab the perfect screenshot.
Through the DJI Mimo app, action filmmakers can preview, adjust, and edit 4K high-resolution videos, apply the DJI D-Log M flat color profile, and export videos up to 120 fps in 4:3 aspect ratios.
Downloading content from the camera can also be done in the background, keeping user’s smartphones free for other use.

The AI algorithms also monitor battery usage to optimize energy and extend shooting for up to four hours of battery life before recharging.
Moreover, with just 15 minutes of charging using DJI’s 30-watt USB-C charger, the 1950 mAh Extreme Battery Plus is back up and running for another two hours of performance. It is also optimized to work more efficiently in colder weather.
Pricing and Availability
The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is competitively priced at $349 for the standard combo, which includes the camera, Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus, Protective frame, adapter mount, mounting bases, a glass lens cover, and all cables.
The Pro Adventure combo, for $449, adds the Osmo Quick Release Adapter Mount, battery case, and extension rod. There is also an optional charging multi-function extension handle for $99, and an the Extreme 1950 mAh Battery Plus for $32.
