Godox has announced the release of the AD200Pro II TTL Pocket Flash. This 200W flash system is designed for photographers who want a powerful yet compact lighting solution, offering enhanced functionality, wireless control, and compatibility with multiple TTL systems.
If this flash looks familiar, it’s because the Pro II is the updated version of Godox’s original AD200 Pocket Flash. A great portable light with an astonishing amount of power and battery life, it has become a staple in my camera bag. However, you’ll need deep, sturdy pockets for this light to actually fit in them!
Key Features of the Godox AD200Pro II
Just like the first version, the AD200Pro II comes with both a Speedlite head and a bare bulb head, giving you the choice between a more focused, on-camera flash-style light or a softer, omnidirectional light. These heads are upgraded versions—the H200 II and H200J II— and feature adjustable bi-colour LED modeling lamps, letting you visualize lighting effects before capturing the shot.
The power settings range from 1/512 to full power, meaning that this flash is suitable for a wide variety of photographic genres, from portraits to large-scale shoots. The AD200Pro II also has fast recycling times of 0.01-1.8 seconds and flash durations as short as 1/23,500 seconds, so it can keep up with fast-paced, high-action moments.
Wireless flexibility and TTL compatibility
One of the most notable updates in the AD200Pro II is its simplified wireless sync capability, compatible with the new Godox X3 trigger as well as the previous X2, XPro, and XPro II models. Photographers can control the flash from up to 328 feet away by using the Godox 2.4 GHz wireless X system. It supports up to 16 groups and 32 channels, allowing for easy setup and management of multiple lights.
Additionally, the AD200Pro II supports TTL systems from major camera brands such as Canon, Nikon, Sony, FUJIFILM, Olympus, and Panasonic.
Group Color Indicator
the AD200Pro II has an upgraded TFT colour screen that offers intuitive onboard control. Adjusting power, flash modes, and other settings is straightforward and quick.
Another new feature is the “Group Color Indicator.” This assigns different colours to each of the 16 flash groups, enabling photographers to easily distinguish between multiple lights at a glance, even from a distance.
Power and durability
The AD200Pro II is powered by a removable and rechargeable 14.4V/2900mAh lithium battery, capable of delivering up to 500 full-power flashes. The unit also supports an optional PB960 power box for extended shooting sessions. For added reliability, the flash is equipped with a fan-cooling system to prevent overheating during intensive use.
Portability
The flash weighs just 2 pounds and measures 8.27 x 3.07 x 2.05 inches (with the Speedlite head). Despite its relatively compact size, it still boasts a robust set of features, including support for high-speed sync (up to 1/8000 sec), flash exposure compensation, and multiple flash modes, including stroboscopic and multi-flash settings.
Price and availability
The AD200Pro II is available to preorder now for $349.00.
