Micro Four-Thirds Takes Center Stage in Logitech’s MEVO Core Streaming Camera

Logitech has announced its entry into the streaming business with a new Micro Four-Thirds camera that can wirelessly stream from anywhere.
The MEVO Core delivers 4K video for up to six hours of continuous runtime while streaming 1080p video to various services such as YouTube, Twitch, and others.
The camera boasts an 8.3MP micro four-thirds CMOS sensor capable of capturing 4K video at up to 30 frames per second and an aspect ratio of 16:9.

It can also live stream 1080p at up to 6Mb/s, with 2K and 720 options available. The ISO range of the camera is 100-25600, and it has built-in NDI/SRT support.

The Core also supports interchangeable lenses and comes with either the Olympus 14-42mm EZ, Panasonic 14-42 PZ, or 45-175 PZ zoom lenses.
It works with a wide variety of mountable autofocus lenses, allowing users to capture bokeh and deeper depth of field over a fixed-mounted lens, giving a more cinematic presentation.

Logitech is also developing support for MFT Adapters, which will allow the use of other lenses, greatly expanding the optical capabilities of the Core’s MFT mount.
Until then, a list of certified compatible lenses can be found on the MEVO Core website.
Wireless streaming uses the RTMP protocol, and the camera has a microSD card for archival video capture.
Battery life of up to six hours is achieved through the camera’s built-in rechargeable 18650 mAh lithium-ion batteries or a USB-C power cable.

The camera has also been optimized for use with the Logitech Mevo MultiCam app for creating broadcast-quality live streams from multiple camera angles.
The camera connects through both HDMI and USB-C video outputs, and users can also connect to the app using WiFi 6E (802.11AX) and Bluetooth 5.1.

Audio support is achieved through the Core’s built-in three-microphone array, and users can also connect an external microphone through a 3.5mm TRS minijack port. The camera captures using 16-bit AAC compression at 48 kHz.
Other features of the camera include presets of Tungsten, Daylight, Cloudy, and Florescent; exposure compensation of -3 to +3 in .1 stop increments; 2 RGB Tally Lights for live camera switching, and four 1/4-20 mounts for additional accessories.
