Rode Creator of the Year Awards Launches With $350,000 In Prizes

Rode Microphones recently announced a new competition with a load of prizes attached to it, and it’s not the brand’s usual event.
Instead of the more widely known My Rode Reel competition, Rode has now announced a wholly new contest called the Rode Creator of The Year Awards.
The kicker is that they offer a major load of awards in the form of $250,000 in cash awards and another $100,000 in prizes.
The awards cover a broad array of topics with a focus on creators using YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. Anyone who wants to enter need only own a Rode product of some kind and be using it in their productions.
Unlike the My Rode Reel and My Rode Cast Awards, which target filmmakers and podcasters, this new Creator Of The Year Award is aimed at the three giant social video platforms mentioned above.

Rode states, “Celebrating creators is part of our DNA” and its CEO, Damien Wilson adds that the company is launching this award to celebrate a whole new generation of creators, after having previously focused exclusively on short film creators and podcasters.
The constellation of prize and cash giveaways includes $250,000 worth of cash for winners across different categories and $100,000 in product prizes from Rode itself and from its competition partners.
These partners include other major brands like Artlist, Atomos, Fujifilm, Lume Cube, Nanlite, Obsbot and Sandisk, but also others.
The range of categories for the Rode Creator Of The Year Award is also very extensive since there are 22 of them in total. What’s more, in each of these 22 categories, two winners will be selected, one picked by Rode and the second chosen by “the community”.
Each of the two category winners receives a $5,000 cash award and a prize pack whose value Rode hasn’t yet revealed.
Then there will also be an overall Creator of The Year Award winner who gets $20,000 in cash and $30,000 in additional prizes.
Following this top spot is the Emerging Creator Of The Year Award for newcomers, which gets $10,000 in cash and $25,000 in gear and product prizes.
As for the categories themselves, here’s a breakdown of all of them:

ASMR
Adventure and Outdoors
Beauty
Comedy
DIY and Hobbies
Entertainment Review
Fashion
Food and Cooking
Gaming
Gear and Tech Reviews
Gym and Fitness
Health and Wellness
Home and Studio Tours
How-to and Tutorial
Interview
Journalism
Music Production and Performance
Science
Short Film and Documentary
Sports
Travel and Lifestyle

There are enough categories above to cover pretty much any kind of online video creation niche and project out there. Thus, if you’re a YouTube, IG or TikTok video creator and think your creations are solid, here’s a great opportunity for some further recognition.
Entry is pretty simple:
Just pick the category that you think best suits your subject matter, offer 1 to 3 links of content that best showcases your work on one of the three websites covered, and make sure that you mention the Rode products your productions use.
One especially nice thing about this contest is that it’s cost-free, though you will need to register with the Rode Awards and send in your submission before October 1st.
Voting for community-selected winners will run from October 15 to 31.
